Divorce Coaching
Private strategic guidance and grounded emotional support during the divorce process.
What is Divorce Coaching?
Divorce coaching is a flexible, goal-oriented process designed to support individuals navigating the legal, practical, and emotional realities of divorce. It is part of the broader field of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and can be valuable whether you are contemplating divorce, actively moving through the divorce process, or adjusting to co-parenting after separation.
Working with a skilled advisor can provide clarity during a period that often feels uncertain and disorienting. Coaching helps you understand what lies ahead, define your priorities for life during and after the transition, and develop thoughtful strategies for navigating the legal, practical, and emotional changes that accompany it.
For many clients, coaching becomes a steady point of orientation throughout the process. A place to help verbalize your thoughts clearly, process difficult emotions, and develop strategic responses to the challenges that arise.
Some seek coaching because they wish to avoid litigation - but still want practical information about the divorce process. Others simply want someone in their corner who can help them understand what to expect and make thoughtful decisions.
When we work together, our approach is tailored to your circumstances and we will pivot flexibly as your matter unfolds and your support needs change.
Areas We May Work On
-
Orienting you to the legal process and helping demystify the structure of the court system
Clarifying your expectations for the dissolution process and identifying where to focus your attention in preparation
Evaluating whether self-representation is appropriate or whether retaining counsel would better serve your circumstances
Reviewing the advantages and limitations of different approaches to separation, including mediation, collaborative divorce, litigation, and self-representation
-
Organizing financial, parenting, and logistical information so that you can make effective use of other professionals such as mediators, accountants, and attorneys
Identifying opportunities for constructive, mutually beneficial outcomes while ensuring that adversarial issues are approached with sound strategy
Preparing for mediation and custody evaluations
-
• Identifying your core values and translating them into personal, practical, and legal goals for the transition ahead
• Planning the practical realities of post-separation life, including establishing a separate household and navigating new parenting structures
I approach advising and coaching with both a strong orientation toward practical progress and an expansive capacity to hold the emotional realities of divorce. My role is to help clients remain grounded and intentional as they move through the dissolution process, maintaining a sense of agency, even during moments that might feel uncertain or overwhelming.
Divorce evokes powerful emotions alongside a complex series of practical decisions. In our work together, those emotional experiences are given space, while we also remain focused on the concrete steps required to move your life forward. We translate what can feel like a cloud of competing concerns into clear, manageable actions so that each stage of the process can be approached thoughtfully rather than reactively.
Throughout this work, we continually return to the larger picture:
your values, your priorities, and the life you are building beyond your divorce.
By aligning short-term decisions with your longer-term goals, the strategy we develop together supports not only the successful completion of the legal process, but also your stability and wellbeing in the years that follow.
